Mikołaj Zebrzydowski saw a significant resemblance to Jerusalem in his estate. Mount Żar with its existing Church of the Holy Cross resembled the hill of Golgotha. Father Feliks Żebrowski, the tutor of his son Mikołaj, helped to determine the locations of the various stations. This is how the idea of building a chapel complex came about.
