SEMINAR IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE PROJECT “THE HERITAGE OF THE SANCTUARY IN KALWARIA
ZEBRZYDOWSKA ON THE UNESCO TRAIL”.

On 24 March 2023, in the auditorium of the Pilgrim House in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, a
seminar with the participation of exceptional speakers. The status of work on the
project under way and other topics related to the functioning of the
sanctuary.

The seminar was followed by lectures by:

  • Dr Krystyna Kozieł – art conservator
    The expert presented the course of conservation work on the chapels on the Paths of Our Lady in
    Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. The presentation evoked many reflections on the difficulties that
    have to be overcome in order to save or restore works of material culture.
  • mgr inż. arch. Piotr Kozieł
    In his presentation, he outlined the progress and advancement of the renovation and construction work
    in the chapels on the Paths of Our Lady in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. The presentation contained
    a great deal of information about both the techniques of the works and the geology of the site, as well as the influence of the climate
    on the progress of the destruction.
  • M.Sc. arch. Bartosz Żmuda – Creoproject
    Mr Bartosz presented the problem of renovation of historical buildings on the example of
    buildings on Bernardyńska Street in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. It turns out,

  • Anna Neuman – Invelo/Inveni consortium
    In her presentation, she showed the implementation of the project “The Heritage of the Sanctuary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska on the UNESCO trail” as an opportunity for the local community.
    The renovation and conservation of Kalwaria’s buildings will help to promote the the place and the development of cultural activities. The inhabitants of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska will be able to benefit from a wide range of events and The inhabitants of Kalwaria and the surrounding area will be able to take advantage of the wide range of events on offer, as well as of the premises, thus learning about the value and importance of the local heritage the value and importance of the local heritage.
  • Halina Cimer – Deputy Superintendent of Education for Małopolska
    Active and committed, not only as a Vice-Superintendent but also as a social activist,
    presented local heritage as a motivation for integration and development and the promotion of
    good practices among the younger generation.
  • Rafał Gralewski
    Mr Rafał Gralewski, a guide, has been guiding groups through the sanctuary for years. In his
    presentation, he introduced the Passion Play, which takes place in the shrine every year,
    as a continuation of the theatre and religious rites of the European tradition. A unique combination of
    culture of the word and rich historical knowledge resulted in the audience being shown a completely
    unusual perspective on the “religious theatre” in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska.
  • Father Tarsycjusz Bukowski OFM – Press Officer of the Shrine
    Father Tarsycjusz, in his talk entitled “Beauty saved and saved” – guided the
    audience through the extraordinary world of music in the Church on the example of the shrine in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. The presentation included many examples of historic music notation,
    before the modern musical notation was created, and it was also possible to learn about the history of the organs in the basilica.

The meeting was substantive and allowed the audience to appreciate the scope and scale of the implemented project. The “Heritage of the Kalwaria Zebrzydowska Sanctuary on the UNESCO Trail” project is co-financed within the framework of the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
