Course and progress of works

“Course and advancement of renovation and construction works in the chapels on the Paths of Our Lady in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska”.

It was an extremely interesting lecture by mgr inż. arch. Piotr Koziel.

The basic issue which affects the humidity and the damage caused by it in the buildings of the Sanctuary, and especially in the chapels, is the type of soil. This is clay, which to a large extent does not allow water to penetrate easily into the deeper layers of the ground. This causes its retention and dampness of the foundations, if any, and the walls of the shrines. In the lecture, Mr Peter outlined how this is dealt with by modern conservationists and how the problem was once approached.

The project ‘The Heritage of the Kalwaria Zebrzydowska Sanctuary on the UNESCO Trail’ is co-financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
